Isle La Motte,VT May 29th - June 1st, 2003

Nancy, Sherry, Kathy, Deb, Les and Lyn
We missed you Peg and Sue and Sue... boohoohoo..... Life does not get less busy since we passed the big fifty.
And so in 2003, we were missing three from the hardcore Fairchildren reunion go-ers.. Six of us Fairchild beauties gathered, in the way northern Isle La Motte, Vt - just 45 minutes from Canada and yet not very close to anywhere. Deb wins the prize for coming the furthest this year.
Our adventure trip around the island included the first stop to what seemed to be a run-of-the mill not especially interesting quarry. The water was kind of groddy. We couldn't see any fossils. There were no signs.

The first wave of Fairchildren - Les,Sherry, Lyn and Kathy arrived near 4-ish? (can't exactly remember, except that I was scooting out the door to pick up Deb at the airport about the same time that they were arriving.) Les handed off her cell phone - as Deb and I needed to pick up food and brew to hold us over the weekend ... not much for grocery stores to be found on Isle La Motte. The cellphone came in handy, as we called them whilst shopping to make sure that all necessary foodstuffs would be onhand. I won't elaborate on the route that Deb and I took from the airport to the lodge .... but we did eventually meet up with the rest of the gang. We had a great surprise visit by Sherry's son Alex and his Paula for dinner. And what a grand dinner - everyone brought something special ... salads, chicken, bread(but no pita bread), wine, beer.... I know that I left out something, but what I do remember is how good everything tasted. And for dinner time talk, I think that Deb convinced Alex and Paula that they should apply to the Amazing Race. Stay tuned. Les and I are off the hook for a while.
Where oh where are those darn fossils?

Yessssssssssss! 48 Million year old fossils!!!!
Very very very cool. There were lots of mysterious circles of rocks. And we were stepping all around them, not even knowing it.

48 Million year old fossils!!!!
I can not fathom anything being that old.
Dinner out at Ruthcliffe's. Such a darling place for the Fairchild darlings. Note that Sherry is the only one with a doggy bag. The food was grand, the atmosphere perfect, the rain held off.

Thanks to Les for driving us all over the place as one big family.

This is what Nancy always yacks on about...

Had to put some of these on the web ... will sometime add them as their own website.

I saw this foxy lady Thursday on the road to the lodge.

I never did get the kayak off of my car until we were leaving Sunday morning.... to meet up at ... guess where ... Ben and Jerry's, of course. When I came to a stop as we were departing the Reunion 2003, my whole car kind of jossled forward and back with the weight of the rain water collected inside the kayak.

Note also that we did not discuss next year's reunion much. Except: the lodge was very nice, especially the price. The distance was very far, not easy to get to no matter where you're coming from. So guess that it's wide open for suggestions.
